"I am awake, I am aware, I am grateful."
Silently name one thing you're grateful for at each transition between poses.
"I am here, now."
Each time your mind wanders, gently return with the words "here, now" on your exhale.
"I honor the interconnected web of souls."
Let your awareness expand beyond your mat. Notice the shared energy in the room.
"I am strong and adaptable."
Breathe into effort rather than bracing against it. Find strength without rigidity.
"I am fearless in my journey."
Choose one pose that makes you nervous and approach it with curiosity, not dread.
"I am a beacon of light."
Imagine warmth radiating from your center through your chest, fingertips, and crown.
"I release what no longer serves me."
On each exhale, name something specific you're releasing — a thought, a worry, a tension.
"I release, I surrender."
Find three places you're holding tension. In each pose, consciously soften one of them.
"In silence, I find wisdom."
Instead of stopping thoughts, imagine turning down the volume. Let sensation become louder than chatter.
"May I find balance within chaos."
Pay attention to transitions as much as poses. Notice where you rush and where you linger.
"I am grounded, anchored to the earth."
Press your feet firmly into the mat and feel the floor press back. Wobbling is part of balance.
"May my practice be as graceful as a river."
Smooth out the edges between poses. Let each shape flow into the next without stopping.
"May I be healthy, happy, and free of suffering."
Direct this wish to yourself first, then extend it outward — to someone you love, someone difficult, and all beings.
"May I be willing to see the love in all."
When a pose feels difficult, offer yourself the same gentleness you'd give a friend.
"I open my heart to give and receive."
In chest openers, focus on the feeling of openness rather than depth. Let vulnerability be part of the process.
"My breath keeps me grounded."
Spend 10 breaths just noticing before you move. Let breath initiate every movement.
"Breath and movement dance as one."
Let each inhale start a movement and each exhale complete it. Match your tempo to your breath.
"This space holds healing energy."
Before your first pose, place your hands on the mat and consciously arrive. This time is set apart.
"I honor and share the light in me."
Tune into how you feel, not how you look. Notice the warmth and aliveness in your body — that's your light.
"I love and respect all that I am and all that I am not."
Each time you judge yourself, replace it with: "This is where I am today, and that's enough."
Use this reflection before your practice to discover the intention that serves you today. There are no wrong answers. Let each question settle before moving to the next.
Step 1
How does your body feel right now? Where are you holding tension? Where do you feel ease?
Step 2
What emotion is most present for you today? Name it without judging it.
Step 3
Not what you want to achieve — what quality do you want to cultivate?
Step 4
Distill your answer into one word or a short phrase. State it in present tense, as if it's already true.
My intention for today's practice is:
"____________________"
Tip: If nothing comes, "I am open" is always a good place to start.
Track your daily intention to build a consistent practice. Write your intention for each day — even days you don't make it to the mat. Notice which intentions show up most often.
Month: _______________
For Yoga Teachers
Build entire classes around a single intention theme. Each entry gives you a class style, key poses, word-for-word opening and closing scripts, and a playlist mood.
Class Style
Gentle flow or restorative
Playlist Mood
Warm acoustic, ambient, gentle piano. Unhurried tempo.
Key Poses
Child's pose, supine twist, supported bridge, legs up the wall, seated forward fold
Opening Script
"Today we practice gratitude — not for anything specific, but for this moment. For the breath in your lungs and the mat beneath you. As you begin, let your first intention be simply: thank you."
Closing Script
"Before you leave your mat, take a moment to thank your body for showing up today. Carry this gratitude with you — let it color the next conversation you have, the next meal you eat."
Class Style
Power vinyasa or peak-pose sequence
Playlist Mood
Driving, rhythmic, building energy. Electronic or indie with a steady beat.
Key Poses
Warrior I, II, III, chair pose, crow/bakasana, side plank, high lunge
Opening Script
"Today is about finding your edge — not to push past it recklessly, but to stand at it with awareness. Strength isn't about force. It's about showing up fully for what's hard and breathing through it."
Closing Script
"You just did hard things. Not because you had to, but because you chose to. That's the kind of strength that matters — the kind you carry off the mat."
Class Style
Yin yoga or hip-opening sequence
Playlist Mood
Spacious, ambient, minimal. Long tones, nature sounds. Very slow or no beat.
Key Poses
Pigeon, dragon, butterfly, reclined spinal twist, supported child's pose, banana pose
Opening Script
"Today's practice is an invitation to let go. Not to force anything out, but to stop holding on so tightly. Whatever you've been carrying — set it down for the next hour. It will still be there when you're done, but you might hold it differently."
Closing Script
"Notice if anything feels lighter. You don't have to name it. Just notice. Sometimes releasing happens so quietly we almost miss it."
Class Style
Mixed-pace flow with standing balance sequence
Playlist Mood
Flowing, even-keeled. Instrumental with gentle rhythm.
Key Poses
Tree pose, eagle, dancer, half moon, warrior III, mountain pose
Opening Script
"Balance isn't about being perfectly still. It's about making constant, tiny adjustments. Today, notice what happens when you stop fighting the wobble and start working with it."
Closing Script
"You wobbled today. Everyone did. That's not a failure — that's your body finding its center, over and over again. That's what balance actually looks like."
Class Style
Heart-opening flow or partner yoga
Playlist Mood
Warm, soulful, heart-centered. Acoustic guitar, soft vocals.
Key Poses
Camel, bridge, fish, cow face, wild thing, supported backbend, chest openers with blocks
Opening Script
"We spend a lot of time protecting our hearts — physically, emotionally. Today, we practice opening. Not forcing — opening. Let your chest lead. Let yourself be a little more vulnerable than usual."
Closing Script
"Place your hands on your heart. Feel it beating. That's the most generous thing about you — it hasn't stopped giving since the day you were born."
Class Style
Pranayama-focused flow or slow vinyasa
Playlist Mood
Minimal or no music. Very ambient — sounds that don't compete with breath.
Key Poses
Cat-cow, sun salutations (slow), seated spinal twist, standing forward fold, mountain pose
Opening Script
"Before we move, we breathe. Ten breaths, just noticing. Inhale through the nose. Exhale through the nose. Nothing to fix. Nothing to change. Just witness the breath that's already happening."
Closing Script
"Your breath was with you for every pose, every transition, every moment of stillness. It didn't leave. It won't leave. Whenever you need an anchor, it's there."
Class Style
Introspective flow or journaling + yoga workshop
Playlist Mood
Contemplative, introspective. Solo instruments — piano, cello, guitar.
Key Poses
Seated meditation, hip openers (pigeon, lizard), forward folds, extended savasana
Opening Script
"Today isn't about what your body can do. It's about what your body can tell you. In each pose, instead of asking 'am I doing this right?' ask 'what do I notice?'"
Closing Script
"You just spent an hour listening to yourself. That's rare. That's valuable. Before you re-enter the noise, take one thing you noticed today and hold onto it."
