Discount Codes Now Available! 🎁

Big news today - just in time for the holiday season, discount codes are the newest feature in Punchpass! This has been the #1 requested feature addition for Punchpass for quite some time. We’ve been working hard to make sure we not only got it live before the holidays, but that we also nailed the functionality.

You can dig into the nitty-gritty of how they work here on our Support Knowledge Base. But the basic idea is like any other coupon or discount you might apply on another ecommerce site. Your customers enter the code and click ‘Apply Discount’ to change the price paid (you can see an example below.)

Discounts in Punchpass can be used for Passes, paid Series reservations, and Pre-Pay classes. You can control which passes/classes a discount code is good for…so it’s easy to create a discount JUST for a specific workshop or Series. You can limit the number of times a discount can be redeemed, and you can set an expiration date. Boost early registrations by giving customers a discount that is only good through a certain date!

We are VERY excited to finally get this live. We have a few enhancements still to be made, including the ability to apply a 100% discount and ‘sell’ a free pass. (Another highly requested feature!) Let us know what questions and feedback you have, and happy discounting!

 

5 Reasons Customers Will Love Your Online Booking System!

Your students will love using Punchpass as your online booking system

We all know the regular benefits to booking online, but there are some unexpected ways that Punchpass will thrill your students too.

1. Their class feels more like an appointment than a vague plan

This one admittedly sounds a bit strange but is absolutely true - a huge number of our students report feeling more committed to attending the class once they’ve made a booking. Here’s a quote from one - “I kinda like to book in because that sometimes gets me there when life is hectic.”

Once your students have made a reservation their class will seem much more like an appointment than a vague plan so you’ll see them at the studio more often.

2. Your students know that there will be room for them in class

Is there anything worse than getting all of your gear on, finding your mat and driving to the yoga studio only to find that the class is booked out (or cancelled with the dreaded note on the door – see point 2 from our recent post)? It’s the worst! With Punchpass your students are guaranteed a spot in class (you can set different capacity limits for each class type if you like) and if class is full you can offer them a waitlist (more on that below).

Still want to allow drop-ins? Most studios do and you probably don’t want to stand in the way of students just rocking up. When unexpected students arrive you can easily add them to class (and assign them a pass if necessary).

3. If a class is already full students can put themselves on the waitlist and hopefully snag a spot

If you’re not currently using a good online booking system then you’re probably familiar with the last minute (or constant!) stream of bookings and cancellations via text, phone and email.

Keeping your classes full but not overbooked is a balancing act but Punchpass can handle it all for you so you’ll have more time to prepare for your class and focus on things that matter. Our waitlist system will automatically let waitlisted students know when a spot becomes available and if they’re still keen to come they can grab it with one click.

4. Your students can easily see their pass information and purchase a new pass from home or their phone

We know you love connecting with your students but probably about deeper things than how many passes they have left and whether they remembered to book for next Tuesday’s class.

With the Banyan plan on Punchpass your students are able to login to their account and manage all of their bookings and passes online. You’ll spend less time on the boring bits and more time growing your business and having the conversations that matter.

5. Your customers can access your Punchpass schedule from any device

Punchpass is a web-based app which means it works from any internet-enabled device.

Class Registration Improvements

Two improvements to the class registration process went live today. First, you can now tell Punchpass to NOT accept online reservations for a class. Reservations are accepted by default - to turn them off edit the class in Manage Account and uncheck the box to accept reservations. This means the class will not show up in the class schedule on your public registration page.

Customer List Now Loads Up To 10x Faster

As Punchpass has grown we’ve attracted customers who have larger and larger lists of their own customers. More customers used to mean the View Customers page (one of the most common pages) loaded slowly. No more! We’ve improved the loading performance of that page by 10x. In simpler terms, that means it’s gone from ‘when is the page going to load’, to ‘whoa!’ This is especially helpful for users on mobile. Lots more enhancements coming in the next few months!

Purchases Report Is Now Downloadable as CSV File

More customers have asked for reports to be downloadable - so they can analyze the data or get it into programs like Quickbooks. Starting today the Purchases report has a Download CSV link. The link creates a report for the current month you are viewing, so you do need to download each month. A great monthly ‘housekeeping’ task would be to download last months report and save it on your computer. That way you have a copy of all your pass purchases in case you need them.

Class Variety In Punchpass

We pulled together a word cloud of all the class names that have been defined in Punchpass! Pretty cool to see the variety. Obviously Zumba and Yoga are the dominant themes. But there are a huge number of other classes: Barre, Insanity, Pilates, Tai Chi, Kickboxing, Bootcamps, Bokwa, TRX, Circut Training, Boxing, Crossfit, Yogalates(!), Ripped, Konga, MetaFit. New Way To Organize Classes - Class Times

We have re-designed the way you create your classes in Punchpass. Once you have defined a class in the Manage Account section (for example, Zumba) you then can create multiple class times that you teach. Each class time has a day, a start time, and a default instructor.

Forgive Class Attendances With No Pass

One of the ways to use Punchpass successfully is to take care of attendances that are marked as ‘No Pass’ attendances. But sometimes there are attendances that you do not want to assign to a pass. Maybe it’s a very good customer of yours, or your want to ‘comp’ someone. Now you can ‘forgive’ no pass attendances, which will remove them from the No Pass report.

New Report - Which Passes Recently Expired?

We’ve just added a new report to help Punchpass users keep their existing clients coming back - the Expired Passes report. This report shows all passes that have recently expired: Unlimited passes that have expired in the past 30 days, and Punchcards that have been filled in the past 15 days. We exclude any punchcard that only had 1 punch to remove drop-ins from the list.

1 Day Pass Lengths

You can now set a pass to expire in 1 day - the old length was 1 week. This was a customer request to ensure that assigned drop-in passes expired after 1 day, and to enable the creation of ‘1 Day Unlimited’ passes. Thanks for the suggestion!

Pass Use Summary On Attendance Page

Punchpass now summarizes the passes used for a particular class, and shows it to you on the Class Details page. Simply click on any of your classes to see the summary. We now also show which pass a customer used in the class next to their name. Eventually we will summarize this information for you across all your classes to help you see which passes are the most used. And yes, this was ANOTHER great customer request!

See Who ISN'T Showing Up....

New report! This shows you your customer list, along with the date of the last class they attended. You can sort the list by the headers to have it show exactly what you want. This report was (another) customer request - they want to know who hasn’t come to class in the last 90 days so they can reach back out to them. Great idea! It’s a lot easier to convince an old customer to come back than it is to get a new customer.

New Feature - Inactive Passes

We’ve added the ability to mark a Pass as either ‘Active’ or ‘Inactive’. Inactive passes are available for sale, but are NOT eligible to be used when the system is assigning a pass to a class attendance. This means you can sell a pass for use in the future, today!

Instructor Report Is Live

The Instructor report is now available on the Reports page. It lists all of the instructors you have set up in the system and shows the number of classes they have taught, and the number of students. Clicking on the Instructor name will show you the specific classes and attendee count for each one.
