Holiday Giving 2024 – Making A Difference Globally & Locally

December 10, 2024

Again this year we decided that the best people to determine where we should donate for the holidays are the people who live there – our employees! As a global remote company, we want to also have an impact locally. And while we do that with our creative & volunteer days, we wanted to also direct our giving locally too. So we gave everyone $200 to donate to organizations they felt need the support this year. Here’s a list of what we supported! (Click here to see what we did last year.)

Kids Gardening connects kids with gardening through educators, caregivers, and community organizations.  KidsGardening’s work supports physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing, food security, hands-on skills, positive self-esteem, improved educational performance, environmental awareness, increased social connections, and much more. All in one.

The Addison County food shelf.  With the increase in food prices, and the reduction in SNAP benefits nationwide, food shelves are becoming an unfortunate necessity for more families.

Resilience Montreal, an organization that helps support the homeless community of Montreal. They run a day shelter downtown and provide a lot of other good services to a population that is historically and currently disproportionately Indigenous.

MaineTrans Net: We are Maine’s only organization specifically focused on supporting transgender people. Your financial support helps us to ensure that trans people in every corner of Maine have at least one place in their lives where they are able to safely be themselves.

Maine Needs: Maine Needs was founded on the belief that the things you donate should reach the people that need them most, at no cost. Through the power of social media and word of mouth, an incredible community has formed to support the basic material needs of people throughout Maine. Since 2020, we’ve distributed more than 906,000 essential items and filled more than 34,000 requests.

Project Host has been around for a few decades here in Greenville, and covers a whole spectrum of food insecurity. Aside from housing, food insecurity is a huge issue in the city & county. They also recently finished a renovation of their main location so that there are giant windows; which allows people to eat a warm meal, in a warm location, while not feeling like they’re trapped in a facility.

MSF (Doctors without Borders) is, simply put, one of the critical ways that healthcare is distributed on a global scale

Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter is a local rescue crew that respond to emergencies in the Nelson area. They respond to over 400 calls per year. With Nelson having a variety of landscapes, every mission is different. They’re definitely an invaluable part of the community.

Finger Lakes Land Trust protects and preserves the beautiful landscapes in my region. I volunteer with them, and it’s rewarding to contribute financially as well!

Thousand Islands Land Trust  works to protect and conserve critical habitats under threat from development. They’re running an active campaign to protect a critical area.

Sunshine Horses rescues and rehabilitates horses while providing therapeutic programs for humans. Thanks to donations, they’ve cared for over 35 horses, supported Alzheimer’s patients, and built a handicapped-accessible bathroom for visitors.

Pasitos whose mission is to provide both therapy and evaluations to help kids with autism, especially to those who can’t afford them. Having an early diagnosis is of great importance to make these kids lives better and assure a proper development into society.

EASTERN SIERRA CONSERVATION CORP provides opportunities for young adults from BIPOC, Queer and economically disadvantaged communities to experience wilderness and the outdoors by providing transformational experiences through trail and conservation work.

THE CHILDREN’S HOME PROJECT brings people and resources together to support and change the lives of children in Honduras including outdoor programming.

BRAVE TRAILS is a leadership summer camp by LGBTQ+ people for LGBTQ+ youth.

QUEER OUTDOOR EXPEDITION SCHOLARSHIPS supports fully scholarshipped backcountry expeditions for queer people with a focus on those from marginalized socio-economic backgrounds.

OUTDOORIST OATH educates people on how they can advocate for planet, inclusion and adventure through workshops and community offerings.

INTERSECTIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL FILM PROJECT funds a film about an area of the climate crisis/solutions with indigenous voices, queer artists and Pattie Gonia herself. This project has and will continue to hire BIPOC + Queer creatives to bring the film to life.
